My Mother-in-law, Merrie threw baby Benjamin and I a wonderful baby shower on Saturday! We had a great time (minus little one not feeling well). It was very relaxed :) Thank you Merrie and to everyone who came :) It was lots of fun getting little boy stuff!!! (very different than what I have been used to)

Sick little girl
I mentioned in the previous post that Callie Beth had been sick. Well, it didn’t get better. We had our first trip to the emergency room Sunday night when her fever got to 105. We tried everything to get it down but it kept climbing. She was in and out of sleep, just crying. She wasn’t responding like normal and her pupils were like pin drops. It felt like her heart was going to pop out of her chest it was beating so fast. She would just stare at me with this look I never want to see again.
She was such a strong, brave little girl. But there were times when she would tell the nurse “No, I’m done! Out!” Or the nurse would walk in and she would just start saying “owie” before she even touched her. She was so tired and didn’t want to take any more medicine. She did get lots of Dora stickers!
It could have been the H1N1 flu but this was day 6 of being sick and it was too late to do anything about it. They had trouble reading her x-rays because she was turned but they say it could be a slight tough of pneumonia. They treated her for an upper repository infection. We left the hospital 4 hours later when her fever was down to 102.9. Long night!
She was feeling a little better but boy a pain to live with. LOTS of crying and whining (which is not like her). And if she didn’t get her way, she acted like the world ended. I knew something wasn’t right. This is not our child :) We had to go to a follow up appointment with her pediatrician yesterday. I am glad we went because it turns out that she now has an ear infection. That explains a lot. She was already on meds but she took her last dose yesterday. We just have to continue it two more days. If our sweet little girl isn’t back by Monday, we have to go back in. Keep your fingers crossed!
Here is a picture from the E.R. Bless her heart!

Baby update: 33 weeks
I went for my 32 week check up on Thursday. Jake took me because the winter weather we have had lately. I saw Dr. Card this time. Benjamin’s heart rate was at 134. I am measuring perfect and my weight is exactly the same as it was with CB at this time. I find that strange because I feel so much bigger this time around.
I am having the same issues with rib and muscle pain as I did with Callie Beth. It seems a little more bearable this time around (maybe because I expected it or because those muscles are stretched out). I did hurt a muscle on my right side which is causing more pain than I need! When it flares up, it feels like a knife is stabbing me (as if I knew what that felt like). Tylenol does nothing for it but ice really helps!
We closed on our new house this week! Yay! We will take possession on Sunday, March 6th. Jake will begin painting the bedrooms so the new carpet can be put in. We already have lots of stuff over there in the shop. We will take lots more over next week too. We will sleep at the old house until the paint and carpet are in (which will be the following weekend). We are so excited to be in our new house!
Callie Beth has been sick all week. Whatever this is, we are ready for it to go away. It has been a rough week for all of us! We want our happy, healthy little girl back :)
Benjamin will be arriving in 6 weeks (from tomorrow). We can’t wait but have so much to do in the mean time!

Black Butte Ranch
Last weekend, Jake’s whole family headed to Black Butte Ranch. It is about a 3 hour drive but took a little longer because of all the snow. It was our first family vacation together and it turned out great! We all had a wonderful time.
The house was HUGE! There were two staircases. Callie Beth LOVED climbing up one, running across and going down the other with her cousins Sam and Will. She also loved the snow and sledding. When sledding, she always yelled “wee” going down hills. By the end she would say “I want to go wee with Dad”.
We all forgot cameras but we also did some swimming. Of course, our little fish loved the water. She just kicked and splashed swimming around with her floaties on. She didn’t want anyone to hold her (unless she started getting tired).
There was also a lot of relaxing, down time and playing :) There are lots of pictures so enjoy….

Loving it…
She decided to steal the sled and go for a walk
Until we called her back…
She then decided she was strong enough to pull Samuel…and she could.
Dad decided to help
Until she steals the sled again…

Inside time with Aunt Jill (Doe Doe) and Gwynn in the game room
Callie Beth and Gwynn (5 months apart). These two are so funny together. They both have some lessons to learn on sharing. They both want what each other has but doesn’t want to give up their own toy. It is quite funny to watch!
Thank you Merrie and Fred for a wonderful trip and to Joe, Kasey, Chad and Jill for great food! Can’t wait to do it again :)

Happy Valentine’s Day
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! We hope you did as well!
This was new to us…Callie Beth hasn’t ever been too interested in t.v. (which we didn’t mind at all) But lately she has shown some interest. After dinner, she went and got the pillow and then laid down on the rug to enjoy some down time. Too cute!

30 Weeks!
I was 30 weeks along on Monday! I went last week for a check up. Ben’s heart rate was 154. I was measuring perfect and my weight is exactly the same than what it was with Callie Beth. So, overall pretty good!
I am feeling okay. Some days I feel pretty good and some days he is up in my ribs. My muscles are starting to separate again (which I was hoping wouldn’t happen this time around) but we will manage :) The energy is starting to leave me. After teaching all day and coming home to an almost two year old, there isn’t much left of me after that!
We are getting really excited but still have a lot to do before he arrives (2 months from tomorrow)!

Packing and Packing
We have been doing a lot of packing lately. We have most of it done except the stuff we are still using.
We are ready to close but the lady we are buying the house from is trying to find a place to live. Our actual closing date is no later than March 11th but could be sooner if she finds a place sooner. She is a super nice lady and has actually let us move stuff over into the shop. We took two truck and trailer loads over last week and will probably take 2 more this week. This will make it a lot easier come moving day.
With this taking a little extra time than we hoped, it has allowed us to order carpet for the bedrooms upstairs. This way, Jake will be able to paint the bedrooms as soon as she moves out and carpet will be in the next day.
I am SO anxious to get in and start getting the nursery ready and Callie Beth’s new big girl room. I am a super organized person so this is driving me a little nuts. (Callie Beth’s room was ready 4 months before she came). Oh well…we just can’t wait to be in our new home!
Here she is enjoying the swing bottom again. So, this girl has NO fear. I swear she is going to be a gymnast. She loves to be tossed around and to be upside down. Here she is trying to be Spiderman up on the ceiling.
She is really in to helping (as usual). She insisted on doing this. She actually lifted that bin, put it on the cart, and rolled it into the garage. It was a pretty light load :)
She also loves to color and write.
Lately, she is wanting her baby dolls to go to bed with her. She arranged her gator, glow worm, and cabbage patch kid like this. Silly!
She is talking so much now and making sentences all the time. She had two more molars break through this week. They take so long to come in! One more (THE LAST TOOTH) is getting ready to come too. The end is in sight! She usually gets her teeth one at a time about a month apart. Although it is tough, I am thankful it is all happening pretty close together.
Potty training is going great! No accidents all weekend (not even when we were out). I can’t believe she is going to be 2 in a month and a half.
See below for another post…
My 30th Birthday
I am really behind on blogging…
On January 20th, I (and my sister) turned 30. Jake wanted to throw me a big party but I just wasn’t in it being pretty pregnant and everything.
Our birthday fell on a Thursday. It was great. I got flowers from my class and my Mom. Jake brought me a yummy lunch and my class was wonderful! We had a dinner to go to that evening for Jake’s work so CB spent some extra time with Grandma. We picked her up and headed home.
I was told to pack a bag for Saturday night and Callie Beth was staying at Grandma’s house. If you know me pretty well, it is near impossible to surprise me. Jake did great at keeping it a secret!
We dropped Callie Beth off late afternoon. Jake got a condo for us to stay in overlooking the Bay. The condo was adorable. We watched the sunset and drank wine. Yes, non-alcoholic wine for me. The view…
He then made me sushi (of course nothing raw) as an appetizer.
Then we headed out a little later to one of my favorite local restaurants (Nana’s Irish Pub) for dinner, live music and dessert. They have a chocolate bread pudding that is amazing…
I had a wonderful birthday. I am not at all worried about being 30. I think my 30s are going to be pretty great! Most importantly, we will get to meet the new addition to make us a family of 4!
