Sun-kissed

As you can see, we spend a lot of time outside.  I just love that white little bottom.    She’ll love me for this later :)IMG_0203 Who needs toys?  Really, it seems like its the simple things in life (like a box, catalog, and coupon) that makes a little girl happy. IMG_0198IMG_0199I head back to work on Tuesday.  I am ready to begin a new year but boy I am not ready to leave this little girl!  Next week is going to be tough.

Opening Day of Elk Season 2010

Jake went out for opening day of Elk archery season.  He was walking an old grassy logging road when he saw this bear 100 yards away.  The bear was walking towards him, but had not spotted him.  Jake drew his bow back and the bear kept walking and walking and walking.  The bear stopped 9ft from Jake, sniffed the air, spun around and dove off the edge of the road onto a tree and climbed up a few feet.  Jake shot with his bow and the bear jumped out of the tree and ran back down the road.  He shot it at 9:30 am and he didn’t get home with it until 5:00 pm.  He said he would still be down there if his friend Matt didn’t come and help him carry it out.  Thanks Matt!

A birthday and a baby shower

I am a little late on these posts so forgive me…better late than never.

My niece, Gwynn turned one last week.  We are excited Callie Beth and Gwynn are so close in age (5 months apart).  We hope you had a wonderful birthday sweet girl!003087048067068084 Sunday, we traveled up North for Jacque’s baby shower (Jake’s cousin).  She is expecting a little boy (Michael Christopher) next month.  We had a very nice girls day at Aunt Gale’s house.

(Yes, I am mad that I was leaning down…I look so short and yes, I chopped my hair off.  It is really short and I am trying to get used to it).

My in-laws….Jill (Jake’s sister), Kasey (Jake’s brother’s wife), Gwynn (my niece), Callie Beth and I, and Merrie (My mother-in-law)002 Here are my sister-in-laws and Jake’s cousins.  Don’t they all look so much alike??008Great Grandma Postlewait111 Callie Beth and Brady (second cousin)112 Great Grandpa Postlewait114Aunt Gale and Callie Beth 115Gwynn, Kasey, Miki, Callie Beth and I 116

Skype

It’s sad that Callie Beth lives so far away from her cousin Nolan but we are very lucky to be able to skype.  That way, my sister can keep up with us and we can keep up with them.

Here is Callie Beth talking to Mandy and Nolan!

Otter Beach

Today we headed over to Corvallis to go to Otter Beach with Angie, Christian, Gracee, and Harper.  There are other pools but Otter Beach is perfect for the little ones.  They have toddler time from 11:30-1.  Callie Beth really has no fear of the water.  She was all over the place, including many trips under the water.  She had a blast!

IMG_0143 Christian, Gracee, and CB checking it outIMG_0144Wow…this looks awesome! IMG_0147 The girls enjoying the tire swingIMG_0153 She LOVED the slide.  She was trying to climb up every other set of steps to go down slides but I couldn’t go with her on the others and she was too little to go by herself.  So I took her down the big one!IMG_0158IMG_0159 I was trying to get a cute picture of her but she is signing and saying eat here.  I guess she was hungry!IMG_0162 I wish we had a place like this a little closer!

Camping

We went camping this past weekend at Cottage Grove Lake.  We do not have many pictures because I forgot to charge the camera!  Boy was I mad!  Oh well.

We had a great time!  We went with some friends of ours.  I think there ended up being about 30 people with us (11 of those being kids…6 of those being 2 and a half and younger and all 6 of those are girls).  Talk about busy!

Callie Beth loved the lake.  She had a great time swimming and really enjoyed the boat.  She was the little cheerleader during the wake boarding sessions.  I didn’t know how she would sleep in the tent, (especially with this tooth coming in) but she passed out without a problem and slept till about 7.

Just Silly and Uhh: Another tooth

This little girls hides all the time.  Here, I was trying to get a picture of her hiding in our closet but as soon as she saw the camera, she ran out and said “cheese”IMG_3799IMG_3961 CB loves these magnetic numbers and stars.  She seems a little OCD with them and will put each one up on the tub, then back in her bucket.  She also enjoys putting them on herself.

IMG_3965IMG_3966 Here is what happens when CB doesn’t feel well.  Her blankie goes with her everywhere.  Her last canine tooth is coming in.  She really is one of the worst teethers!  One more closer to being done (just her 4 two year molars left after this one).  She covers herself up like this.  She puts it around her like a cape and then lays down.  IMG_3967 At least she gave me a smile!IMG_3970IMG_3976IMG_3977

Big Girl!

It is bitter sweet seeing my baby turn into a little girl!  This week had really made me realize what a big girl she is turning in to.

Early this week CB was eating a cereal bar on my lap on the couch.  When she was finished she took the wrapper, got down, walked it to the trash can, opened the lid, and threw the wrapper away.  I was blown away!  We have never taught her this!  It amazes me to see her learn things just by watching.  It also made me realize she is watching and soaking everything in !  I was so proud of her.   I made a huge deal of it and she LOVED it.  Now, she wants to throw everything away and she claps for herself when she is done.  It is interesting to see what she thinks is trash and what isn’t.  She has been almost perfect!

CB is talking a lot now.  Her vocabulary is growing every day and is even putting together small sentences.  She says my name thousands of times a day.  “Mom”  “Mom” “Mom” Most of the time it goes something like this: “Mom, adsh  asdkjl   ;lkdsfl;ksd.”  It truly sounds like she is speaking another language.  But she has been saying: “Mom, I wanna get up” and “Mom, I wanna go”

Later that same day that she threw her trash away, she was playing in her kitchen and I was checking e-mail.  She called out: “Mom, poop” and pointed to her diaper.  Sure enough, she had gone to the bathroom!  One step closer to potty training: she is aware of when she goes.  Although I know she isn’t ready, we practice.  She got in the habit of walking into the bathroom to get in the bath and peeing on my rug (What, is she a cat?).  So now we sit her on her potty or catch her trying to go on the rug and she finishes on the potty.

Callie Beth is such a picky eater!  It drives me nuts!  She likes a lot of different food but is picky about when she eats it.  One days she will love it and the next she won’t touch it.  I really have to mix things up to get her to eat!  One way to get her to eat is let her feed herself.  I must say she is getting really good at using both the fork and a spoon and doesn’t make too much of a mess.

IMG_0104IMG_0105IMG_0106 Some of her favorite foods include: eggs, yogurt, watermelon, avocado, peaches, pears, mac and cheese, bagels, grilled cheese, applesauce, banana, veggie burgers, and green beans.
