Our Little Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!  This year was really different as it was our first Thanksgiving with Callie Beth.  We are so thankful for our little girl!

She is changing so much and has quite the little personality.  She is ALWAYS on the go and it curious about everything (which makes it really hard t0 take pictures).  She has been a little needy the last few days.  The corner of her 4th tooth finally poked through today.  I don’t know if it is the tooth causing this or separation anxiety beginning but she gets upset if you leave her site.

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We are thankful to have you all in our lives!

8 months old!

IMG_1796

Callie Beth is 8 months old today!  Where is the time going?

Weight: 16 pounds 4 ounces……….20th percentile

Here is what’s going on with her these days:

  • Crawling!!!  As I said in the last post, she started taking crawling steps while Jake was on his hunting trip.  She is getting better each day.
  • Standing: She is starting to pull up on things and also can stand on her own for a short amount of time.  She will also take steps if she is holding your fingers.
  • She now has three teeth.  2 on the bottom and 1 on top.
  • Sleeping: There was a post about this a couple weeks ago but I weaned her from her middle of the night feeding while Jake was on his hunting trip.  Since the weaning, she has been sleeping through the night.  She goes to bed around 6:30 and gets up about 6.  She is taking 2-3 naps a day.
  • Callie Beth loves her food.  She is eating pretty much everything and her favorite is squash.  (She growls at Tia when she is finished because she wants more).  She really loves the Gerber puffs and it great at feeding herself.
  • She is getting pretty good at using a sippy cut and will every once in awhile will take juice.
  • We are finally in the 9 month and 6-12 month clothing size which I am excited about since she has so much cute stuff.
  • She still loves to growl and jump.
  • She refuses to nurse anymore so I am just pumping.
  • She blows on her food.
  • She shakes her head no (which is quite funny…I know it won’t be here in a little while).
  • She is still obsessed with tags and strings.

I’m Crawling!

Here is a little video of Callie Beth crawling.  She began taking steps while Jake was on his hunting trip.  She would take a few steps and then dive for whatever she wanted.  She is getting the hang of it!

Busy People

So I am sorry there has not been a post in awhile.  We have been very busy.  Jake made it home with a mule deer in tow.  I have had meetings and Turkey Bingo this week.  Anyway, here are some recent pics.  Check back soon for more posts!

Sleeping!!

So I have been really brave…..I decided to wean Callie Beth from her middle of the night bottle (while Jake is gone).

At her 6 month check up we got the okay to stop the feedings.  Our pediatrician wanted us to wait because she needed those calories to get her weight up.  At 6 months she wasn’t finishing her bottles anymore so that was a good sign she was just getting up out of habit.  Well, right after that appointment, she started guzzling her bottles again.  She must have been going through a growth spurt.  So we decided to wait till after our trip to North Carolina.  I didn’t want to put the effort in knowing it would just get messed up.  When we got back from NC, she once again started finishing her bottles.  Last week she stopped.  She would just have an ounce or two and then cuddle up on Daddy’s chest.

We have done the cry-it-out thing twice before.  I worked really hard over the summer to get her on a schedule and to teach her how to fall asleep on her own.  There were some tough times but we did it.  We also did it to wean her from sleeping with her pacifier.  She went through a stage where the darn thing would fall out….she would cry…I would get up and put it back in….she would go to sleep.  I did this several times a night.  I wasn’t getting any sleep.  Finally I couldn’t do it anymore (especially knowing I had to go back to work soon).  There were about 3 REALLY hard nights.  Crying on and off all night.  (Both of us were crying).  It just broke my heart.  I just wanted to make her happy but she needed to learn how to sleep without it.  After 3 nights, we were in the clear.  She does awesome now….and I know it is because she had to learn how to put herself to sleep without the help of me, Jake, or the pacifier.

She has been going to bed (on her own) around 6:30.  She gets a bottle and then we lay her down awake.  She usually talks to herself till she falls asleep (one of the best things to listen to).  She then gets up around 2 or 3.  Jake gives her a bottle and I pump.  We are both back to bed within 15 minutes.  Not so bad!!!  Then she sleeps till about 6:30.

All of us are ready to sleep through the night now!  I started Friday night so I didn’t have to worry about work the next day.  I thought Friday night went well.  She woke up around 3:00 and cried / fussed for about 30 minutes.  She went back to sleep and woke up around 6:30.  Saturday night was a different story…She woke up around 10 and cried and fussed for 30 minutes.  Then again around 12 then again at 3 and 5.  Now I can’t say this was all from not having a bottle.  She is teething pretty bad right now and we had a terrible storm.  There was hail slamming against the house, the thunder was shaking pictures on the walls and the wind was blowing hard.  I was curious to how she would do last night.  I was hoping it would go well because I had to work today.  I woke up at 3:45 and hadn’t heard a peep out of her.  She woke up at 4:05 and fussed (no crying) for 5 minutes and she was out again.  I got her up at 6:45 this morning.

I just hope it continues to go well or it is going to be a LONG week.  Jake is going to be so proud when he gets home (I know I am)!!!

Home Alone

So Jake left for his hunting trip Friday morning.  He drove up to Washington to meet the guys and then they drove to Eastern Idaho.  From there, a plane dropped them off in the middle of no where!  The plane picks them up Saturday morning and the long drive home begins.  He should be home Sunday morning but then he has to go to Portland Sunday night till Tuesday for work.  It really changes our mornings because Jake is the one who feeds her and drops her off.  I try to get to work at 6:45.  It seems like the mornings are the only time I can get things done and I spend my other breaks pumping.  So this week I will just go in later when she is with Tia and Merrie will pick her up tomorrow morning :)  Oh, and we have Wednesday off!!!!

Anyway, we are making it work and can’t wait for him to come home.  I swear Callie Beth was looking for him yesterday.  I was holding her and we walked out of her room.  She moved her head to see around the corner then scanned the whole room.  :*(

Callie Beth and I had a great weekend.  I got a lot done around the house.  All of her clothes are organized.  I made her a few outfits for the holidays.  I love having a girl :)  I also made my sister some burp cloths.  We are going to have a nephew in March.

She is very close to crawling.  She moves around backwards and in circles, just not forward.  She is getting quick too.  She moves places and then sits herself up.  I was trying to get her to go yesterday by putting her binky in front of her on the floor just out of reach.  She just turned herself around and went backwards to get it.  Tonight she actually dove forward for it.

Here are a few pictures:IMG_1606

She made her way to the coffee table and sat herself up.  She thought it was great!

Can you tell she is teething?

Lazy Sunday!

Today we spent most of the day just relaxing.  It was really nice.  Callie Beth must be going through a growth spurt because she is eating and sleeping a lot more.  We also think some teeth are coming because everything is going in her mouth again and drool is just pouring out!  Here are some cute pics from today!

Our Little Pumpkin!

So this week has been crazy!  I have had parent-teacher conferences the last two days.  It is always great to meet with parents but it calls for 2 very long 12 hour work days.  I have really missed Callie Beth….she is asleep by the time I get home.  Anyway, Jake carved a pumpkin with her the other night while I was gone.  We are really excited to dress her up…stay tuned to see what she will be!

So Silly!

So Callie Beth has started ‘attacking’ me.  I was wondering where this came from when yesterday I was trying to get her to laugh by pretending to chomp on her neck.  She started doing to back to me.  Last night she started doing it to Jake too.  I quickly got the video camera.  She is so funny!
