Poolside in Charleston

The key to vacationing with one year olds is a POOL!  We are so thankful for the pool at our condo!  Callie Beth and Breck loved every minute of it and we really enjoyed it also.  It was a great way to tire out the kids before naps.

Callie Beth really became a little fish on this trip.  She loved her float, loved to just hang on to us and swim, loved to be thrown around.  She also loved playing on the steps.  Near the end of the stay, she was playing on the steps and I was near her but with my back turned.  The next thing I knew, I heard a big splash.  I turned around to see that CB had jumped in off the steps.  I swooped her up from under the water and she was laughing so hard.  This turned into a game.  She then started jumping off the side of the pool on her own.  I loved it!  I really love swimming and I want her to enjoy it as much as I do.  I love that she was so adventurous.

Folly Beach, Charleston…beach bums

I am going to apologize in advance…there are so many pictures that I want to share with you all.

After the 4th, we headed to Charleston, South Carolina with the Hemphill family to meet up with my sister, Patrick and my nephew, and the Rice’s for the week.  I finally got to meet my little nephew Nolan.  He is so precious!

This was our first vacation with another family.  We had a blast!  I am so happy that Jake and Mike get along so well and that our kids are so close in age (2 months apart).

The first day we were there we headed to the beach after the kids afternoon naps…we learned a lot that day!  Whew…it was HOT!!!  Callie Beth and Breck LOVED the water.  They couldn’t get enough of the waves knocking them down.

Here are beach pictures from the first day:

After that first day at the beach, the boys went running one morning and saw how nice the beach was.  We decided the best time to take the kids out was right after breakfast.  That way it was not too hot.  The tide was going out so there were little pools of water to play in and they weren’t exhausted yet.  It was PERFECT!  Every morning, we were on the beach by 8:30.

Strollers became an obsession of Callie Beth’s this trip.  She either had to be pushing or had to be riding.  Here she is with Mike pushing Breck…

4th of July: Beginning of the Carolina Trip

Jake, Callie Beth and I flew out to North Carolina last Friday night and arrived in Charlotte Saturday morning (July 3rd).  Callie Beth did wonderful on the plane and slept pretty much the entire flight.  She adjusted perfectly to the time change.

We stayed with Amanda and Mike while we were in Asheville.  They have a 13 month old (Breck).  Callie Beth and Breck had such a great time together.  They loved to give each other kisses all week.  Callie Beth started calling him Huck.  It was the first thing she would ask for in the morning after her milk.

Some friends came over to celebrate the 4th.  We had a wonderful time!
