Monkey See Monkey Do

We really need to watch ourselves these days :)

Callie Beth is an observer and she learns by watching and doing.  She is quite good at figuring things out on her own…which we love about her.  She wants to be doing everything we do.

I captured these pictures while Jake was working on taxidermy.  She is obsessed with animals.  She calls them elk and deer.   She loves to play in the nasty garage!  I mean look at all the stuff she can get in to.  Boy, I can’t wait till we get a shop for him.  Jake makes sure she is safe.  He loves that someone will keep him company out there.

I guess she had been watching him brush the deer so she picked up the brush and headed over to do it herself.  IMG_4164IMG_4165 Jake was painting here.  She insisted on her own brush.  You can’t see it in the picture but there is a HUGE pile of animals that Jake touched up and updated for a family friend.  Callie Beth took her paint brush and went back to the pile.  She then dragged an animal up for her to work on (Jake of course helped when he realized what she was doing).  IMG_4167IMG_4169

Aquarium

The bank had a nice dinner party at the aquarium not long ago.  We had the entire aquarium to ourselves.  I was going to be a little late because I had my 12 week appointment, an ultrasound, and lab work.  I ended up being much later….It took the lady 25 minutes to get 7 tubes of blood….I was SO frustrated I was going to miss a lot of the fun at the aquarium.  Oh well.

The pictures didn’t turn out too great and Callie Beth was running around that place like she owned it.

I’m the Big Sister!

IMG_4022IMG_4024 Callie Beth is going to be a big sister!  I am 12 weeks.  That makes baby number 2 due April 18th.  (CB was due March 18th).  baby 2 12 weeks These are the ultrasounds from 12 weeks.

This is an extreme close up of the head with a little hand by its mouth.baby 2 12 weeks2 I had my 12 week appointment yesterday.  Everything looked great.  It was hard to find the heartbeat.  I guess I have a pretty strong artery in my tummy so they kept hearing my heart beat.  We finally got it after about 10 minutes.  The heart rate was at 160 and during my ultrasound was 156.

I will have to add the ultrasounds from 7 weeks but they are on my school computer.

I’ve been feeling okay.  A little nauseas and EXTREMELY exhausted.  I have also been getting head aches (minor).

Jake and I are so excited to add to our little family!

Crafty Projects

I Love Love Love personalized stuff!  Here are some things I have worked on lately…

Monogrammed shirt-  I made these earlier in the summer but had to wait to post them.  We had 4 little girl birthday parties to attend and one baby gift to get so I made these for all of them.  Of course I had to make one for my little one too.  They turned out so cute!IMG_4156 Initial Onsie-IMG_4157 My first skirt…by no means perfect but I thought it turned out so cute!  (It is hanging crooked…I promise it is even) :)  I made it 18-24 months so Callie Beth can wear it awhile. IMG_4152 A little big but she will grow into it!IMG_4148 She LOVES her skirt too!IMG_4147More cute stuff to come…

18 Months Old!

IMG_4143Callie Beth was 18 months old on the 21st.  I can’t believe how much time flies!  She is such a fun and happy little girl.   She is such a blessing and amazes us each day.  It is really hard to remember our lives without her.    Her second birthday will be here before we know it.

Here is what’s going on with her these days:

  • Her vocabulary is growing every day
  • She loves to read
  • She is a picky eater (not about what she eats but when she eats)
  • She loves babies but really enjoys playing with the big kids
  • She is down to one nap a day (most days)
  • She definitely tests her limits but overall she is a good girl.  She really doesn’t throw many fits.  She actually stays in time-out when she is put there
  • She still LOVES her blankie
  • She has 16 teeth
  • She loves to talk on the phone (both pretend and real)
  • She rarely lets you feed her anymore.  She is pretty good at using a spoon and a fork.
  • She loves to dance
  • She is still in 18 month clothes (and probably will be for awhile).  She just got into wearing size 6 shoes.
  • Enjoys writing and drawing
  • Can climb and go down 3 steps without holding on
  • Likes to help around the house
  • Knows a lot of parts of her body
  • Can kick a ball the entire length of our backyard
  • She loves to be upside down and thrown around

Laughing as she thinks it is so funny to run from me while I try to take pictures.

IMG_4134IMG_4133In deep thought…planning her next move! IMG_4125 Silly girl!IMG_4120At 9 months, her head was just up to the top of the white spotIMG_4114Yes, she still has the same scowl as her Daddy  IMG_4122

18 Month Check Up

Callie Beth had her 18 month check up.  I am pleased to say we have a perfectly happy, healthy little girl.  She is hitting her milestones perfectly (if not a little early).  She even opened her mouth and said awww when her doctor went to look in!  She talked to him the entire exam.

Here are her stats:

Weight…………23 pounds 6 ounces………35th percentile

Heights……….32 and a half inches……….75th percentile

She was supposed to get a shot today.  The Hep A shot has to be 6 months apart.  The lovely computer system in Oregon won’t allow you to put it in any earlier.  We are two days shy of 6 months.  UHH!  So….Monday we go back for the shot!  FUN!

Here she is waiting so patiently…CIMG0079CIMG0078 I will try and take some 18 months pics of her this weekend since the weather is supposed to cooperate!

Mommy’s Helper

Callie Beth loves to help whenever she can.  Here she is helping me clean one morning not long ago…IMG_4066IMG_4068IMG_4070IMG_4071 I guess cleaning wore her out.  She needed to stop and have a snack.  She decided her raft would be a good spot.IMG_4074IMG_4078 As you can tell, my blog posts have decreased.  The life of being a working mom again…

First Day of School 2010

This isn’t going to be long because I am exhausted!  The first day of school always wears me out!

Jake took a picture of Callie Beth and I last year on the first day:IMG_1238 So I thought it was fitting to do it again.  Callie Beth was not happy about me leaving this morning!IMG_4053 What a difference a year makes!

When we got home, she decided to take a little walk around the house in my shoes.  Yes, they are on the wrong feet :)IMG_4056

IMG_4057

Then, we had a BIG night.  I got her undressed and told her to go sit on her potty and wait for dad before she got in the bath.  She went and sat.  I then told her to go “pee pee” and SHE DID!  She then pointed and said “pee pee”.  We made the biggest deal of it.  I was so proud of her and she was SOOO proud of herself!IMG_4059I am aware she will hate me for this later but I need it for her book :)   I love you!

Go Gators!

I am so excited College Football has started back up!  It just puts me in a better mood.  Although the Gators did not look good today, Callie Beth and I enjoyed watching the game together.  Let’s hope those Gators get it together!

We practiced the ‘Gator Chomp’….she totally did not get it.  She just claps…I need to work more on that.  She will throw her arms up when I say touchdown.  I even got her saying football: well, she says “bootball”.  Adorable!

IMG_4035 This is the look I get when she is starting to be mischievous.  IMG_4038Here is why I was getting that look.  Jumping on the couch!   IMG_4041 Had to take a break to play with some toys!IMG_4043 I think she loves “bootball” too!IMG_4045

Love my Pillow!

Callie Beth has shown an interest in pillows lately.  This pillow with her name on it has been on my to-do list for quite some time.  I thought this was the perfect time to make it since she was liking the other pillows we have.

I was not sure how she would do with it in her crib.  I have talked about how crazy she is burying herself in the corner and covering her head with a blanket.  This summer has been driving me nuts because no matter where I put her, she ends up in the same corner.  She then sweats and makes the bumper stink.  So that means lots of washing and those are a pain to get back on.

She LOVES her pillow and now her sleeping issues are resolved.  Most nights, she sleeps right in the middle!  I love it!  What a big girl :)
